Welcome to Our Bird Journey
The purpose of the website is not to showcase professional Bird photography, nor to create the impression of being World Bird experts. The purpose of this website is for us, as ordinary husband and wife to share some of our bird findings, our journey, experience, differences it made in our lives and could to other individuals, Birders and families.
We discovered and experienced so many benefits , from corporate world career into retirement and our passion for Birds will continue as long as our health allows us to. Birding originally started for us, as a tool for Life Balance, but very soon became so, so much more in our life's.
This website will be under constant development-/ expansion as there is so much to share. Our journey to date allowed us to find around 700 SA bird species, with so many photo's taken, and we are still following our passion to find more bird species. Search enquiries, Links, Youtube, species names and much more information will be added soon.

Connection with nature
Mental Health Benefits
Birding has specific mental health benefits that go beyond general outdoor activities. Birdwatching increases positive emotions and decreases in distress compared to those who did not focus on birds. The act of searching for and identifying birds can be meditative, providing a break from daily routines and allowing the mind to relax and rejuvenate.
Cognitive and Emotional Engagement
Birding provides a combination of cognitive skills and emotional engagement. Identifying different bird species involves attention to detail, memory, and learning, which can enhance cognitive functioning. Additionally, the sense of awe and wonder that come's from observing birds can foster positive emotions and a deeper appreciation of the natural world. This emotional engagement can lead to a more positive outlook on life and greater overall well-being.
